আমরা সবাই চাই ইংরেজিতে স্পষ্টভাবে কথা বলতে, লিখতে, পড়তে কিন্তু আমাদের ভয় আমাদের শিখতে দেয় না। তাই ইংরেজি শেখার জন্য আমাদের সঠিক কৌশল অনুযায়ী গ্রামারও শিখতে হবে।

ইংরেজি গ্রামারে appropriate preposition বা পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় বিশেষ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে।আজকে আমরা পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় কাকে বলে, কতপ্রকার, এদের ব্যবহার, গুরুত্ব ইত্যাদি বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করবো।

Appropriate preposition কাকে বলে ও উদাহরণ

grammer এ এমন কিছু word আছে, যেগুলির পরে particular বা fixed preposition বসে এবং তার ফলে noun+ preposition মিলে একটা অর্থপূর্ণ শব্দ বা বাক্য গঠন হয় সেই শব্দগুলোকে appropriate preposition বলে। যেমন  “between,” “from,” “in front of,” “inside,” “near”.

Appropriate preposition ব্যবহারের নিয়মাবলী

1. কোন বাক্যে যদি “বিরত থাকা বা বিচ্যুত হওয়া” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে abstain, refrain, absent, aloof, deviate, keep ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “from” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- we must abstain from smoking.
2. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ভিন্ন হওয়া বা পৃথক হওয়া” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে different, vary, detach, deviate ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “from” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- one is different from the other.
3. কোন বাক্যে যদি “মুক্ত করা বা রক্ষা করা “বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে protect, recover, prevent, relieve, defend, safe, free, escape ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “from” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- childhood is free from worries.
4. কোন বাক্যে যদি “দূর করা” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে remove, dispel ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “from” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- picture remove from the board.
5. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ পিছে ছোটা কার লোভ করা” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে hanker, run, aspire, hunt (for) ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “after” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- he does not hunt for traditional guide books. A good teacher never hankers after money.
6. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ লিখে রাখা ” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে write, put, note, ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “down” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- he note down their lectures.
7. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ বিবেচিত বা পরিচিত ” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে considered, regarded, known, treated ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “as” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- since then they have been treated as the symbol of beauty.
8. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ বঞ্চিত ও সচেতন ” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে deprived, destitute, devoid, void, aware, conscious, informed ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “of ” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- they are devoid of honesty. he is consicious of his studies.
9. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ আকাঙ্ক্ষা, সহানুভূতি ও অনুশোচনা ” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে ambition, greed, long, wish, desire, passion, regret, repent, apology, sorrow, feeling, sympathy, compassion ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “for ” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- everyone desires for wealth.
10. কোন বাক্যে যদি “ বিস্মিত হওয়া, তাকানো , বিদ্রুপ করা ও ব্যথিত হওয়া এবং দক্ষ বা অদক্ষ ” বোঝায় বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে amazed, surprised, glad, look, mock, flout, laugh, shock, concern, good, bad ইত্যাদি এই শব্দগুলো থাকে তবে তার সাথে “at ” যুক্ত হবে। যেমন- my parents were glad at my success.

Appropriate preposition বা পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় বাক্যে বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করে থাকি। যা সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে , অবস্থানের ক্ষেত্রে , দিকনির্দেশের ক্ষেত্রে , কারণ এর ক্ষেত্রে এবং পদ্ধতি ও যন্ত্রের ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে। উদাহরণসহ নিচে তালিকা দেওয়া হলো।
